OPENING DAY PARADE INFO
SATURDAY APRIL 20 - 8:00 AM sharp will start parade down Boston Rd from BMHS to Pollard Field
This is a mandatory and important LL event and our expectation is that everyone will do their best to attend. Below are all the details for the event
LOCATION / TIME: ALL PLAYERS MUST BE AT THE HIGH SCHOOL BY NO LATER THAN 7:30am. BOARD MEMBERS, COACHES, & MANAGERS MUST BE AT THE HS BY NO LATER THAN 7:15am
Players should meet up with their team at the high school parking lot (RIVER ST SIDE). Once teams are together, we will line them up to start the parade. Parents should stay with their children until they are together with their teammates and manager. Parents may stay and walk alongside the kids or line up to watch the parade on Boston / Andover Roads.
The parade will PROMPTLY START at 8:00 AM from the Town Hall entrance on Boston Road. Players will march down Boston Road and turn left on Andover Road and enter Pollard Field. Once at the field, players will line up shoulder to shoulder in the outfield. If you are late, you will be left behind. We have a short window of time where the police will close Boston Rd for our players.
ARRIVING AT HS / PARKING: Enter the HS from the River St. entrance and you may park in that lot. With special thanks to Pastor David Flannery, you may also park at the New Colony Baptist Church across River St from the HS.
The players will line up near the HS building. Again, traffic may be heavy so arrive early. Once the parade ends – you will need to walk back to the HS to retrieve your car. The town hall entrance to the high school will be closed to traffic.
POLLARD PARKING: You may also park at O'Connor parking lot (side spaces closest to field or back spaces away from the store fronts) – the parade will END at Pollard field. There will be very limited parking at Pollard field (towards playground) all spots in front of the field will be closed. If you park near Pollard, please arrive by 7:10AM so you have time to walk to the HS.
UNIFORMS: All players must be in full uniform – hats, shirts, pants and socks. Players should wear sneakers. NO CLEATS. NO GLOVES OR OTHER EQUIPMENT.
IT WILL BE COLD SATURDAY MORNING - We strongly recommend that players dress warm and wear sweatshirts under their uniform shirts.
CEREMONY: The ceremony will be approximately 20 – 30 minutes. Once it concludes, parents should meet with their children's teams to meet their child.
PORTA-POTTIES – There are no facilities open at the HS – please plan accordingly. We do have two porta potties at the field, but kids will not be allowed to leave the field until after the ceremony.
